Me, Myself and… Bruce. An Introduction.
The opening sentence to a new blog is best done with the aid of alcohol, I have found. Unfortunately, it’s 1pm on a Friday and as much as a dash of cucumber gin and some Fever Tree tonic in the garden would go down a treat right now, I am not prepared for the emotional guilt of supping booze in the middle of a work day. Besides, Bruce will need walking later and he’ll be none too pleased if I’m snoring off the alcohol on the sofa instead of trekking around the park.
Bruce, an Airedale Terrier puppy that refuses to stop growing and has a fondness for stealing shoes and hiding them, is where the idea for this site began. I knew that, as a nation, Brits really love their dogs. It wasn’t until I added Bruce to my home and family that I truly understood how deeply the bond between pet and owner could become. Our pets really do become completely enveloped and entwined in our lives, they’ll take it over completely if we let them, and we couldn’t love them for it more.
As our adoration for our pets becomes more apparent, more and more companies are providing for us. From high-end boutiques stocking luxury toys and bedding, to healthier more nourishing pet food manufacturers; the market for pet products is growing and petcentric human products are popping up everywhere too. So, I was surprised when I realised just how few pet blogs are out there that not only cater to our four-legged friends but also to their humans… that’s us.
I don’t just want to read about how to train my dog to walk on a loose lead. I want to know the most comfortable yet beautiful shoes to do it in as well. And I want a recipe for an energy boosting smoothie on those days when getting up and walking Bruce feels like wading through treacle. When I get home? Well, I’d love suggestions for a tasty chew for the pup and a good book for me, so we can relax together.
It’s time the lifestyle blog met the pet blog. It’s time for Paws and Prada.
